Four Composers Participate in Mostly Modern Festival
Friday, June 7, 2019 9:37 AM
Four composer-members of the New York Composers Circle are participating in the second season of the Mostly Modern Festival, which takes place in June in Saratoga Springs, New York and celebrates classical music of our time. The focus of the festival is "mostly modern” - living composers from around the world, with an occasional foray into the past. The members who are attending are Bunny Beck, Eugene Marlow, Kevin McCarter, and Timothy Miller. This is the second appearance at the festival for Marlow, McCarter, and Miller, while it is the first for Ms. Beck. Each will be presenting new works at the festival that represents world premiere performances. Eugene Marlow will also be giving a lecture presentation at the festival entitled “Why knowing what your net worth is will help you evolve your musical career.” The lecture is open to festival participants and staff only.
The concerts that include our members' works are as follows:
Friday, June 14, 7:30 PM: Timothy Miller’s work Something More will be performed by the Amerian Modern Ensemble.
Wednesday, June 19, 7:30 PM: Bunny Beck’s work Fantasy for Brass will be performed by the Atlantic Brass Quintet.
Friday, June 21, 7:30 PM: Eugene Marlow’s work Quirky will be performed by the American Modern Ensemble.
Tuesday, June 25, 7:30 PM: Kevin McCarter’s work Come Along will be performed by the Euclid String Quartet.
The festival runs from June 9 through June 29 on the campus of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs with concerts nearly every night of the week beginning on June 10. All concerts are open to the public. Complete festival and ticket information may be obtained by following this link >> https://mostlymodernfestival.org/concerts.
