Last Night's Concert
Wednesday, May 22, 2019 2:51 PM
Once again, the Composers Circle has put on an extremely varied and well performed concert. Last night’s concert featured some new musicians who have not played for us before as well as some of our old favorites. Thanks particularly to Max Duykers, who produced the concert, to Patricia Leonard and David See, who took care of the reception, and also to Peri Mauer, who helped publicize the event and was responsible for bringing several people there. And thanks, of course, to all the composers who contributed their music to the concert.
This concert proved that we can start our programs at 7 PM if necessary and still attract a good audience. Since Opera America wants us to be out by 10 PM, this may be something we will need to do in the future, although on this occasion it was because we had a longer-than-usual program.
Richard Brooks, our Board Chairman, has put together By Laws for our organization that accurately reflect what we have been doing for the last several years, and it is posted on our web site at http://newyorkcomposerscircle.org/by-laws.html. Please take a moment to read them, and let the steering committee know if you see any issues you think should be added, or changed.
Our last salon of the season will be Sunday, June 30. The call for works will go out approximately June 16. I regret that I will have to miss this one, as I have plans to be in Rome at that time, and David Mecionis will preside in my absence.
