NYCC’s “STRING THEORY”
SECOND CONCERT OF 2012-13 SEASON
Features FOUR WORLD PREMIERES of New Music
The New York Composers Circle presents String Theory, the second concert of their 2013 season, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 8:00 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Church at Citigroup Center, 54rd Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City.
Four vibrant new world premieres are featured in this concert of primarily string music: Richard Brooks’ Lamentation for Cello and Piano; Carl Kanter’s Summer Quartet; Debra Kaye’s Duet After Winter; and Eugene Marlow’s La Femme d'un Temps Passé au Présent. A New York premiere, Richard Russell’s Two Songs from Mid-Air Productions adds piano and voice to violin and cello instrumentation. The concert is rounded out with Jacob Goodman’s Variations for a Rainy Afternoon for flute, violin, cello and piano, and Roger Blanc’s Maneuvers for Violin and Viola.
The evening’s performers are all from the Glass Farm Ensemble, featuring guest soprano Sofia Dimitrova.
There is a $20 suggested contribution, payable at the door.
