JOHN EATON writes: “Please come to hear what some consider my most moving chamber work, Lettere, on Monday, Feb. 8th at 8PM in the Rose Studio, 10th floor of the Rose Building at Lincoln Center. It will be performed by Jennifer Roderer, the mezzo-soprano soloist with the Pocket Opera Players, and the American Modern Ensemble conducted by Robert Paterson. The instrumentation is flute, harp and string quartet, in addition to the mezzo-soprano.  It was written in memory of my father.”

MARTIN HALPERN ‘s two new one-act chamber operas will receive world premiere productions Thursday, March 4; Friday, March 5; and Saturday, March 6. The starting time for each performance is 8 PM. The two projects are The Enchanted Stone, freely based on W.B. Yeats’s early play “The Pot of Broth” and The Hour Glass, freely based on images from Yeats’s early play of the same name. The venue is St. Peter’s Church in Chelsea, 346 West 20th Street. Performed by JIM TRAINOR, baritone, YVONNE  BILL, soprano, and EARL BUYS, pianist. All three were featured in the October, 2009 production of Halpern’s operas Purgatory and The Death of Oedipus at St. Gregory’s Church, which reviewer Joel Benjamin called “an intensely satisfying evening of music and drama.” Tickets:  $20; $10 for students and via TDF.
