Becoming A Member of NYCC

The New York Composers Circle welcomes new members, both composers and performers.

COMPOSERS: Composers who wish to join must first attend one or more salons at which they present their music and introduce themselves. Subsequently, an invitation to join may be issued by the Executive Director after receiving approval from the Steering Committee. To inquire about membership and to schedule a salon appearance, please write to Hubert Howe, Executive Director, at Hubert.Howe@gmail.com and include a short biographical note similar to those found on our Composer Profile pages.

Once officially invited to join NYCC, you will be asked to pay an annual membership fee. These annual dues are currently $150, payable through PayPal or check. Once your membership is confirmed, you will be given instructions on how to pay.

In addition to membership dues, composers whose works are selected for performance at NYCC concerts are expected to share in the additional costs associated with the concert's production, such as venue, advertising, and performer fees, which currently stand at $200 per performance. These costs are sometimes offset by the acquisition of grants, which help support these concerts’ overall operating costs.

PERFORMERS: After performing at one or more of our concerts, a performer may be invited to become a permanent member by a majority vote of the Steering Committee. To be considered for performance at one of our concerts, please write to David Mecionis, Artistic Director, at david@newyorkcomposerscircle.org. There are no fees to join as a performer member, and currently, our fees paid to performers are $200 per piece performed at a concert. This may be higher based on the difficulty level and/or length of the pieces performed. Performer members can always refuse to play a piece offered to them.
