David Picton Performance Announcement

Friday, July 17, 2020 9:05 AM

David Picton's woodwind quintet Music for the Birds will receive five new performances in New Brunswick, Canada later this summer and early fall. This is part of an on-going concert series called In Flight presented by woodwind ensemble Ventus Machina, which is Karin Aurell, flute; Christie Goodwin, oboe; James Kalyn, clarinet; Jon Fischer, French horn; Patrick Bolduc, bassoon. The group is based in New Brunswick, Canada.

In Flight is a concert series featuring birds as its central theme. Since David's piece is based on actual bird calls, his work was selected as one of the pieces to be included in the series. In the first part of the series there were four concerts held in February and early March, and after a long period of uncertainty due to the COVID crisis, permission has been given and the grant has been extended to include five more concerts in the series.

Following are the dates for the additional concerts:

July 18, (3:00-4:00 PM), at Memramcook, at Haut Du Russeau Nature Park

August 27, at Grand Barchois (more details will be provided later)

August 30, at Tatamagouche, NS

September 27, at Miremichi

October 25, at Florenceville
