Nina Siniakova Premieres "From the Four Winds"

Nina Siniakova's "From the Four Winds" will be premiered by Melodia (http://melodiawomenschoir.org) this April. This is the final concert of Melodia's 10th-Anniversary series. The concert is dubbed A Breath of Spring, a joyous concert that will bring together a world premiere commission for women's voices and four French horns with rare and favorite works selected from Melodia's decade-long repertoire.

The special commission of "From the Four Winds" is composed by Belarusian-American composer Nina Siniakova, pianist for the New York City Ballet and a composer with a style that has been called reminiscent of Bartok, Lutoslawsky, and Shostakovich, but with a unique influence from folkloric traditions and jazz trends. Inspired by the number four, Siniakova wrote the piece with four French horns in mind, instrumental parts that will be played by the virtuoso ensemble Genghis Barbie.
